The Martinez Family {Illinois Family Photographer}

I spent a little under a week in Illinois last week, and while I was there, was able to catch up with some wonderful friends.  I love that we’ve had a conference there the last two years as it gives us a chance to hang out (and, of course, take some updated photos).  I do admit I wish we could pull our states a little closer… they are so much fun and we miss them the rest of the year!

Oh, and… did I mention a whole lot of adorable little Joseph?  Just look at that sweet little face!

Ethan: ‘For the Love of Preemies’ Giveaway Winner {Denver Family Photographer}

If you follow me on facebook, you may recall that I took part in the second annual “For the Love of Preemies” giveaway organized by the lovely Julie over at It’s a Preemie Thing.  I’m so very glad I was able to participate again this year… and again this year, that I was able to meet the most amazing preemie family!  (If you want to check out last year’s sweetheart, go here.)

Ethan was born 8 weeks early in June of 2010; in fact, he was just beginning his stay in the NICU as my little one was leaving (different NICUs).  He spent 44 days there, catching up on all those skills he would need in the outside world.  I can tell you, friends, 44 days is no joke.  We spend 29 long, long days there and I cannot imagine staying even a moment longer.  Not only were we celebrating this truly amazing little boy and his upcoming 2nd birthday, but his Daddy had just returned from Afghanistan!  There was a whole lot of cause for joy that day!

Oh, dear, this little guy just stole my heart from hello.  I mean the curls, the smile, the lovin’ on his mama, the brand-new walking skill?  Swoon!  The light was lovely and we had a blast capturing this little guy just the way he is.  And at the end?  He let us know he was all done by crawling away as fast as he could at the end of the shoot.

Matt & Julie’s Love Story {Omaha Wedding Photographer}

 I’m not sure I can begin to describe this wedding with words that will do it justice.  I hope my photos do it even a small amount of justice to how beautiful it was.  I can’t tell you the number of moments in this wedding that made me cry, some because there was so much building to that moment and some because they were just perfect in that moment.  One of those was the foot washing.  The garter toss was announced, but instead of that, Matt’s groomsmen brought him a pitcher of water, basin and towel.  He proceeded to gently wash his bride’s feet in a gesture of service.  In the short time since I posted that photo as a brief peek into their wedding day, it’s amazing the number of people that have commented, passed it around and even written whole blog posts about the concept.  It has been really beautiful to see it touching people’s hearts.  There are so many things to say, but I think it’s time I let the photos speak for themselves.

Julie - You have such an amazing eye for detail! I really enjoyed looking at these pictures- many brought tears to my eyes! It’s hard to pick one to comment on, but one that really sticks out is the one of them coming back down the aisle. You captured some pretty awesome shots of the bride’s smile! Good job!
