After the last stretch of cold and endless snow here in Colorado, this shoot was the perfect way to spend part of the first warm weekend. Joey and Juliana are living the life little kids dream of: he’s a police officer, she’s a nurse, they just bought their own little home, and now they’re bringing a sweet baby girl into the world. And truly, this shoot was the stuff of dreams. A perfect, sweet baby bump and two people so beautifully in love that it couldn’t help but spill over in the photos.
This lovely lady is a writer. As she focuses on getting her books ready to publish and all of those amazing things, it became high-time to get her some updated photos. We met at the crack of dawn, with frost forming on the walkways, to capture a little bit of Jill’s sweet spirit. Then, because her husband was hanging out, we had to grab just a couple photos of them. They also happen to have two darling boys, and as most parents know, parents just don’t get enough photos together once there are littles in the mix.
This family has been in it with me for the long haul. Through engagement, wedding, and babies 1, 2, and 3, I have gotten to capture their sweet and spunky personalities. Because we live hundreds of miles apart, the times when I get to photograph them are extra special. This time, there was a brand new addition, sweet baby Quinn! We met at the Old Cowtown Museum on a windy, cold day, and made full use of their indoor areas while we waited for a certain baby’s britches to dry, and then adventured on to the rest of their grounds. I am so grateful for the opportunity to follow this family on their journey as they grow, it truly is one of my favorite parts of my job!
This shoot was such a fun way to see all of the dynamics in a family welcoming their second baby home. When I got there, big brother was napping, and we starting things off slow and quiet. We cuddled, admired this little lady’s tiny fingers and her itty bitty nose, and soaked in babyhood. Then, big brother woke up. We added his adorable smile, his awesome energy, and a seriously amazing dance party to the mix. This little girl is going to have an awful lot of fun with her big brother. After our dance party and some daddy/son wrestling, we wrapped things up much the way we began, with little toes, and a baby all snuggled in at home.

Now, she’s a walking, giggling, red-headed one-year-old, and oh my goodness am I so glad I got to capture her sweet family again. We were all stoked to photograph this day, because it was supposed to be in the 60s. Unfortunately, the day started out quite foggy and chilly, so we had to incorporate a whole lot of snuggles and “run to the warm car really really quick” sessions.
